Today we will learn to use Have Has Had.
Have Has is used in the Present Tense
And Had is used in Past Tense
For Example:
I have a car.
She has a dog.
These two sentences are examples of the Present tense.
But if I say –
He had a Laptop.
This is an example of Past Tense.
‘Have Has’ both can be used to show Possession or ownership and they are very important in making the ‘Perfect Tense’.
Have – I, You, We, They, Plural Noun (Name)

Use of Have:
Have as a Main verb: Possession
I have a pen.
I have an idea.

To show possession:

How to use Had
Using Had is very easy. We can use Had with all Subject if it is in Past Tense.
Had – All Subjects in the past
To show possession:
S+had+a/an+O
I had a good idea.
I had a good time.
He had one daughter.
He had dark brown hair.
You had plenty of time.
We had a secret meeting.
Past Perfect:
Sentence Structure : S+had+V3+O
When we use Had in Past Perfect Tense, we have to put Past Participle form of Main verb.
For example:
I had finished the work.
He had already gone.
He had just arrived.
But when we use ‘Had’ in Past perfect continuous, then we have to put ‘been’ and add ‘ing’ with the main verb.
For example:
I had been working there for three years.
They had been painting the bedroom.
‘Had to’ is used when it means something must be done.
I had to walk home.
He had to stay in bed.
